"The School [was] supported jointly by the Government and the Church in the Diocese of Rupert's Land."--Cover (v. 1, no. 3). Rupert's Land Indian Industrial School, located in the parish of St. Paul, Middlechurch, Manitoba, was for the children of the various bands of Indians in the eastern and northern part of Manitoba, the Lake of the Woods and English River districts. Later, when the government took over full responsibility, it was known as St. Paul’s Industrial School. The School opened in 1886 and closed in 1906. |
