Describing Manitoba's natural regions and determining representative landscape units. Cover Image Book Book

Describing Manitoba's natural regions and determining representative landscape units.

Summary: "This document presents natural region descriptions for Manitoba and a set of landscape units based on the concept of enduring features recommended by the Canadian Council on Ecological Areas and the World Wildlife Fund. Together with discrete point and linear features identified in the region descriptions these landscape units will form the basis for representation within protected areas. This document also presents a set of representation criteria to be applied on conjunction with the lists of enduring features in performing a "gap" analysis, the next step in assessing the representativeness of existing designated crown lands in relation to the natural region in which they occur." -- page 5
