Untuwe pi kin he = who we are. Volume 1 Treaty elders' teachings

Summary: "Elders are the foundation of traditional education; custodians of traditional knowledge and experts in metaphor and allegory. In the Treaty Elders' Teachings series, the Elders are accorded the proper and fitting consideration for their expertise as carriers of the oral history and oral tradition. Our languages are the basis of who we are as peoples. Without them, our identities, cultures and nations cannot survive. Throughout these volumes we privilege the Anishinaabeg, Anishininwak, Dakota Oyate, Denesuline and Nehethwuk/Ininiwak languages to express our understandings of the world. However, the quotes within this volume are not in-depth. These quotes are snapshots of what Elders knew at the time, and do not account for the evolution of knowledge bases by the Elders."
